Sequoia Reptile Company, LLC (SRC) is a small, family operated business established in 2022 and situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. We understand the importance of establishing and maintaining a good reputation in any kind of enterprise, and we promise to do our best to earn your trust. If we make a mistake, we will make it right!
SRC is owned and operated by Norman Sisk and his wife, Svitlana Churaieva. Norman has been a professional wildlife biologist in the western United States for over 25 years and specializes in amphibians and reptiles. Svitlana is an animal lover who has acquired significant expertise in the captive husbandry of chameleons and snakes.
We are currently working with captive bred Ambilobe panther chameleons, Brazilian rainbow boas, ball pythons, children's pythons, womas, and bearded dragons. Although we currently only have Ambilobe panther chameleons for sale, we expect to expand our offerings to include ball pythons by next year and to the other taxa as the animals mature and our business grows over the next few years. Qualified businesses are encouraged to contact us about wholesale pricing.
Our chameleons are given attentive care on a daily basis; fed gut-loaded insects; receive calcium, vitamin, and mineral supplements; receive proper levels of UVB light; and are provided with basking lights, proper temperature gradients, and appropriate levels of humidity. All of the animals we raise and sell are in outstanding health--unlike the sick, emaciated animals often found in pet stores. We guarantee it!
Our first generation breeding stock of Ambilobe panther chameleons have been hand selected for outstanding colors, often at great expense to us. Some of the bloodlines represented in our breeding stock originate from respected sources such as Kammerflage Kreations and Chameleon Paradise.
In general, chameleons have a reputation of being difficult to keep, and in many respects that may be true. However, if one does their due diligence and researches their chosen species of chameleon before acquiring it and obtains the correct enclosure, equipment, and food for their captive, a great deal of the "difficulty" can be mitigated. Having said that, proper care of a chameleon does require daily attention, particularly in the case of a juvenile chameleon. For someone who doesn't have prior experience with keeping chameleons but still want to give it a try, I recommend the following two websites as good sources of information:
There are many other sources of information about chameleons on the internet, but some are not reliable. Also keep in mind that chameleons are not a "one size fits all" animal in terms of their captive husbandry requirements. What I mean by that is that one should not refer to captive husbandry recommendations for a Jackson's chameleon if you intend to keep a panther chameleon--refer to information specific to panther chameleons. The most important piece of advice I can give you is to be prepared with knowledge and a proper cage and equipment BEFORE you make the leap and buy a chameleon.
If you are looking for a friendly pet to handle frequently, a chameleon is not the best choice. They are easily stressed by too much human interaction and may react aggressively toward attempts at handling them. However, unlike most snakes and other reptiles, they are active throughout most of the day and are quite fascinating to observe. Watching them fire their tongues to capture an unsuspecting prey item is always entertaining! If you are lucky, providing frequent, positive attention toward your chameleon (i.e., feeding, spraying, etc.), may result in your chameleon beginning to show some amicability toward its keeper. In fact, we have several males in our collection that will walk out onto our hands to greet us whenever the cage door is opened! On the other hand, amicability is an individual trait not shared among all chameleons. Some individuals remain curmudgeons throughout their lifetime and never learn to appreciate human interaction. That is how it goes with chameleons, but they're always entertaining to watch!
